NCTE is the National Council of Teachers of English, which is a professional association of education in English studies, Literacy, and Language Arts. “The Council promotes the development of literacy, the use of language to construct personal and public worlds and to achieve full participation in society, through the learning and teaching of English and the related arts and sciences of language.“
This is one of my favorite resources. I get many great resources for English Educators here. The conferences are great and James Patterson was the Keynote speaker for the secondary group. The best part of the conference is the amount of free books you get from the publishers, authors, and random people there. I have so many books for my classroom library. I get books before they are even available to the public – so cool!
The amount of resources on their website and being connected to many others is a great advantage. There are also Professional Development sources and resources specifically for English educators. I learned about NCTE and joined while I was doing my student teaching.
